Some good news

I can't begin to tell you how I relieved we all are but Miss Muffin had her dreaded eye check up today.  We've been patching her bad eye in the hope of getting it to *wake up* and work properly. 

And, it is working.  There is a real improvement in her sight and we are to continue with the patching in the hope that there may be even more improvement.

I'm not sure she's that impressed with wearing the patch for two hours a day for another six months.  Saying that, she's mighty relieved that she may not lose the sight in that eye so it's a small price to pay.

Mr K suggested contact lenses and thinks she is an ideal candidate.  We shall see at her next appointment in six months.

*In other news*

Not much really.  Graham is off work and we are working through that humungous to do list.

The girlies are out orienteering with Guides this evening.

You've got to laugh .......

....... you really have to or you'd just go crazy mad.

I went to use the computer last night and the monitor had died.  Honestly, you couldn't make it up.  I wondered what could go wrong next and half expected to wake up in Oz this morning .....  Auntie Em, it's a twister it's a twister.  Hey ho, we have a roof over our heads and food in the cupboards so I can't complain.

*In other news*

The girlies are getting their groove on with my old MP3 player.  They do make me laugh as they sit there watching it like it's going to get up and boogie.

Graham has his paperwork for his *Speedy Gonzales* class and while it will cost double the fine he will escape the points.  He won't be doing that again.

I'm off to start packing up my breakables ready to decorate the living room.  Luckily, we bought the paint before everything started going wonky so it's not extra pennies being spent.

Ooh, Jen, Claire has the most beautiful teeth so it must have worked.   Paula, my hair is so fine that if I pulled out my grey hairs I'd be half bald ...... Hee hee!!!

Can the *to do* list get any bigger?

Graham is off work from Sunday for 11 days and the *to do* list seems to be growing at a rate of knots.  In fact, I'd say it is multiplying at the same rate as my grey hairs.  Tis not a good look and I must book a trim and pop a colour on it before I have to change my name to Pepe Le Pew!!!

We're planning to paint the living room, landing and stairs which will be a pain but totally worth it as the current colour is a kind of putty shade and very flat and dull.  I'm afraid I'm back to being *Mrs Cream* again but it will look fresher.  I'm also pondering hiring a carpet shampoo machine and perform all sorts of miracles in the garden, yeah right!!!

The girlies are off to camp and we also have opticians for Miss Muffin and the Orthodontist for Lottie.  Plus, I really do need to declutter and, hopefully, have a new cooker fitted.

*In other news*

You've got to laugh but I ordered a new cooker on Monday.  It went through ok but then threw a *techie wobbly* so I phoned up and they said it was ok and I should hear later that day or Tuesday.

No news on Tuesday so I call again and they had canceled my order ...... Not happy as I then lost my fitting slot on Sunday.  They are fitting it on the 25th now so another week to wait.  Hey ho, it could be worse and I will complain to the *powers that be* once my cooker is here and working.  I'm not risking upsetting them before it's in place.

The water tank is still leaking but a plastic crate is doing a fine job of collecting the water so far.  Fingers crossed, we may have a temporary fix in the offing.

Not much else going on at all just the girlies hitting the books and some *ding dong Avon calling*.

Leaving you with Lottie aged about one and, yes, she was a thumb sucker.  In fact, she sucked it so much she got a callous on it.  Strangely enough, she doesn't need a brace as her teeth are forward they are actually too far back ...... Go figure!!!

Where did that half of the year go?

 

Honestly, I checked the calendar this morning and almost fell over when I realised that we are at the halfway point of 2010. 

I really don't know where this year has gone but it probably wasn't helped by all the snow and hibernating at the start of it.  Hey ho, on we go.

*In other news*

So, the cooker went kaput last Sunday and this Sunday the water tank decided to spring a leak.  Well, I'm not exactly sure when it actually started leaking but Graham noticed the damp patch on Sunday. 

Hopefully, this was our *third thing* as Graham got a speeding ticket the week before.  He didn't get much sympathy but he was rather distraught at blemishing his 29 year licence.  He's off on a speed awareness course to have his knuckles rapped and won't have to have the points on his licence.  He was doing 36mph in a 30mph zone at 6.40am and is kicking himself but there you go.

The girlies are grand and escaped getting restraining orders placed on them by the workmen replacing the streetlights.  Saying that they have just returned to fill in the hole so there is still time. 

We're off to a Guide camp meeting tonight and the girlies are super excited and on the verge of spontaneously combusting.

Anyhoo, I'm off and hoping that the rest of the year slows down a tad.

Spies like us ......

Well, not me but the girlies.  The weather has been pretty grim and we're trying to finish our work before the Summer holidays.

To lighten their day they have taken to spying on the workman outside our house.  We're having new lamposts put in and as nothing ever happens in our little corner of the world this is very exciting.   Well, if you are fed up of the rain and aged 10 and 12 it is.

I've had a full running commentary each day and I keep expecting to get a knock on the door to ask me to stop them staring out of the window at the poor chaps.

*In other news*

My poor old cooker has gone kaput so I'm working out how long we can last with a hob, slowcooker and microwave.  It's really old and I don't like it but I could have done with it lasting a tad longer.

The girlies are super excited about going off to Guide camp in a couple of weeks.  Poor Lottie is a tad nervous about having to put her tent up but I am sure that she will be grand.  Miss Muffin is playing it cool but I know that she is a bit nervous about it as well.  This is the first time they have been able to go together so I'm sure that they will have a fab time.  I have no idea what Graham and I will do for the weekend as we have never been without both of them and only without one on the few times they have been to Brownie camp.

I think that is about it as I lead such an exciting life ...... Hee hee!!!

Who stole my week?

Someone did as the girlies informed me that today is Friday and there was I thinking it must be about Wednesday.

Well, that is my excuse for not finishing my to do list for this week.  Please tell me that I am not alone in starting out with good intentions and then falling by the wayside pretty quickly.

*In other news*

I made something and actually used a piccie of me and Graham and loads of ribbon.  I'm afraid that it is the piccie I shared last time but, hey, look at him with all his bouffy hair.

The girlies are grand and had a fabulous picnic on Sunday with their friends.  It was a late Birthday celebration as having Winter birthdays isn't that fabulous.

It was good fun and the karaoke machine was very popular.  Luckily, we have lovely neighbours and I did prewarn them.
