Operation Playhouse

We finally got around to clearing out the playhouse and you'd be amazed at the amount of stuff they managed to squeeze in there.

We cleared three sacks of broken or incomplete toys, one sack for the charity shop and a big box full of recycling.  Not to mention the numerous storage boxes that are now empty and the toys they donated to a friend.

They matched up all the Polly pocket and My little pony stuff so it's all ready to go into storage.

Graham worked today but is tackling the garage tomorrow.  I have no idea what is in there and I'm not sure that I don't find out.  I'm planning on keeping my head down and packing up my crafty room.

The girlie wirlies are grand and their mantra for today was *be ruthless* and by golly they were.  They were rewarded with a nice hot milk when we'd finished as it was absolutely freezing.  Yep, this doofus gave the playhouse heater away before clearing it out.

And breathe

I think I know what I'm doing now and it's not quite so daunting.

I do love a list so I've started one with everything I need to do broken down into what to do and when.  It's not nearly as daunting as wandering around the house and trying to decide where to start.

I packed the loft up some time ago so that's ready to go and Graham is in charge of the garage.  I always think that garages are *man world* or that could be just because ours is full to capacity.

I've got some boxes and I have to admit that I am a very proficient packer.  Well, I say proficient but I can't repeat what Graham calls it.  Everything is wrapped securely and I write the entire contents on the box so I know what is where.  It's a bit sad but it makes me happy.

Not sure if I've shared my weird OCD tendency ...... My house is usually a *tad* messy and untidy - I like to call it lived in.  But, my cuboards are more than a tad *Sleeping with the enemy* and woe betide anyone who messes them up. 

I am getting rather excited and we're off to sign the paperwork at the solicitor's on Monday.  It's starting to feel like it really is going to happen.

I have felt very bogged down recently with money, work, family stuff so this is really going to be a real fresh start.  Our new house is smaller and I have no idea where I  am going to put everything but I really don't care.

Ooh, I'm still keepingwith my piccie a day which is a bit of a miracle for me.

Eeek!!!

With a bit of luck and a prevailing wind we should be moving on the 26th  February.  So far so good until we decided to move ourselves and put our stuff into short term storage the weekend before.

This gives me 3, yep 3, weeks to pack up our whole house ..... Oh lorks!!!

I know that it would be easier to get a removal company in but they are hideously expensive and we just can't afford it.  We have been offered the use of two vans and three male helpers so it shouldn't be too bad.

The storage idea is a good one though.  I can get the new house straight and the girlie wirlies room decorated with the minimum of stuff hanging around.

I'm off to make a list as I'm not entirely sure where to start.

Wounded Wednesday

Just a quickie as I managed to burn my finger on the toaster.  I am such a doofus that I keep forgetting and using it to type so it's a tad sore.

Typepad seems a bit poorly tonight as well and keeps kicking me out.

Say cheese

I'm on a mission to sort out my rather vast photo collection.  I started the other day and it's like climbing Mount Everest ...... Baby steps seem to be working so far.

It's absolutely hilarious for the most part but quite sad as well.  The girlie wirlies don't recognise me at all and to be honest neither do I.

Graham had hair and I now look as though I've eaten the old me.

I need to get some of them scanned and will be sharing them on a blog near you.  I promise that they are good for a laugh.

The girlie wirlies have been hitting the books and we've been busy bees sharing the kitchen table.  Lucy has a nap under the table while we work so it's all good.

Chugging along

I dropped our house purchase paperwork off at the solicitors this morning so fingers crossed.

We also had a drive round and discovered a lovely park and lots of green space within walking distance.  It will be nice to have the car but it's always good to have the choice of walking somewhere nice.

The girlie wirlies are uber excited now and planning lots of picnics and nature studies in the park.  I know that home schooling isn't for everyone but we love just being able to pitch up wherever we fancy when we fancy.

Don't get me wrong I tear my hair out some days as we are together day in day out.  But do you know what?  I love being with them and I'll miss them when/if they go back to school.

Millie Muffin is considering it at the moment but Lottie Lou Lou has no interest in returning.

Keeping everything crossed here for no last minute hitches.

Ooh, I forgot to mention that it was my Dad's Birthday on Friday and he would have been 66.  I didn't forget, honest ...... Mind you, he would have forgiven me if I had cos that's what Dads do.

Being a bit of a technophobe I've often inherited Graham's old mobile phones.  I do have a new one now but I have no idea of the number.

Anyhoo, a couple of years ago I inherited a phone and there I am sitting in a very quiet French evening class.

All of a sudden ....... Cockadoodle doo, cockadoodle doo rings out at full blast.

Everyone looks at each other and, yep, it was me!!!  My friend had decided to text me and that was the alert that Graham had set on the phone.

I get home and it's late so didn't get him to change it.  Next day I'm sitting in the Wimpy bar with Millie Muffin and off it goes again!!!

Needless to say I remembered to get him to change it that evening.  Obviously, I then learnt how to sort out my own alerts.

Embarrassing Dad

Oh dear, it had to happen one day.  Yep, Graham has turned into embarassing Dad - Just one bad ringtone too many tipped the balance.

Well, according to Millie Muffin aka the cheeky one but not with Lottie Lou Lou aka the sensitive one. 

You may remember me telling you about the dreadful ringtone that went off in the garden centre.  I can't repeat what I thought about the person who had it and then I found out I was married to them!!!

I've been a busy bee sorting out my rather vast photo collection.

The girlie wirlies have been Wii-ing and on the computer. 

We were expecting visitors so hence the no plans but they couldn't make it at the last minute.

Another step forward

 

Yay, we have our mortgage paperwork signed and the draft contracts for the house we're buying.  We're chugging along nicely, fingers crossed.

As for the pondering? I think that Paula hit the nail on the head with the whole new year thing. 

And, Emma, you'll be pleased to know that I am going to start evening classes.  With Graham working Saturdays my playtime options are a tad limited but evenings are good.  Not sure what I'm doing but would love to do dressmaking.

I wanted to do classes last year but with the *big move* on the horizon it just didn't happen. 

This move will also mean that I have the car a couple of days a week so I shall be more mobile.  Oh yikes, best clear the roads for a while as I will be very lost.  Note to self ...... Invest in a new sat nav as ours is broken.  Mind you with the pay cut I may have to get the girlies to push the car and save on fuel.

The girlie wirlies have promised to sort out their playhouse on the weekend so I could be gone for a while.

Still pondering

Honestly, I am such a ditherer.  I make Mavis from Coronation Street look like a high powered decision making executive - Ooh, is she still in Coronation Street?  No idea as I've not watched it for years.

I digress.  The blog is still being pondered upon and I quite like to think of it as a diary for the girlie wirlies.  I'm always pondering whether to keep it going and I always do so I probably will.

Now, I'm on the photo a day thing.  I've managed to take a piccie every day but they aren't very inspiring.  I guess they will serve as a reminder of living here when we move.

But, mainly I'm pondering how to get through the month with a fair few hundred pounds less than usual.  I am truly grateful he still has a job but being skinter than a skint thing isn't much fun.

I'm a right barrel of laughs today.  I really am good and can't wait to move and get settled into our new home.

The girlie wirlies are grand and still pondering their new bedroom decor.  Ooh, decisions, decisions.
